Mark ‘Egor’ Harris
A true surfing gent, in and out of the water…

“My name is Mark Harris, commonly known as Egor. Born and raised in Newquay, Cornwall. The beaches here have been a backyard for me as long as I can remember, and I loved my childhood upbringing! Playing in the waves started as soon as I could walk and from there riding waves and surfing soon after. At school I really liked kicking a football and getting chased around a field with a rugby ball but surfing was the one. In my early teens I started competing and winning British titles, and got the chance to represent my country at world championships in places such as California, Bali, Australia and Europe. Being able to surf and compete around the world was amazing. When winter came round in Cornwall I travelled to the places I had heard so much about growing up, such as the huge waves of Hawaii and the tropical perfection of the Indonesian islands. But the last few winters have been different… It’s an exciting time to be a British surfer. Over the last few winters, hardcore crews have been waiting out the cold winter storms and uncovering surf spots which are truly world class. Last winter a lot of dedicated and patient searching paid off for a group of mates and myself as we discovered one of the most perfect waves I’ve ever seen, right here in the UK. The discovery was a huge buzz, different to competing and travelling and now we know the UK has waves as good as anywhere in the world and there’s plenty more out there waiting. Surfing, and the people I have met through surfing give me a constant buzz and I feel lucky to have that. Let the good times roll!”
